Carol's Meat and Macaroni Casserole

A hearty casserole combining ground beef, pasta, and cheese sauce, baked until golden.
Ingredients
- 1 pound pasta (corkscrew noodles or rotelle)
- 1.25 pound ground beef
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 ounce Hunt's pasta sauce with meat
- 0.5 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded, shredded
- 0.5 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded, shredded
Steps
- Cook 1 lb box of corkscrew noodles or rotelle according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Brown 1-1½ lbs ground beef in a frying pan. Season with salt and pepper. Drain grease.
- Add 2 cans (16 oz each) Hunt's pasta sauce with meat to the cooked beef in the pan. Mix well.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta and meat sauce. Mix in spices.
- Spray a large 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Empty pasta mixture and sauce into dish. Spread about ½ lb cubes of sharp cheddar cheese into casserole. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella on top and also inside.
- Bake in 350°F oven for about 45 minutes. Look for the top layer of cheese to be melted, but don't let it burn.
