Ingredients

  • 6 pears, peeled, cored, and sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoon unsalted butter, cold, cubed
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup rolled oats
  • 0.33 cup sliced almonds
  • 0.25 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon honey

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the pears into 1/4-inch thick slices, discarding seeds and tough cores.
  3. Place sliced pears in a medium bowl and toss gently with 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix until pears are evenly coated.
  4. Pour the pear mixture into a 9x13 baking pan, spreading evenly.
  5. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup oats, 1/3 cup sliced almonds, 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
  6. Add 6 tablespoons cold cubed butter to the dry streusel mixture and use your fingers to rub the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs with pea-sized pieces of butter still visible.
  7. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the pears, breaking apart any large clumps as you go.
  8. Bake for 35 minutes, until the streusel topping is golden brown and the pear filling bubbles at the edges.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  10. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of honey over the warm crumble just before serving.
