Classic homemade Italian meatballs with ground beef and pork, flavored with garlic, herbs, and Parmesan cheese. Perfect served with marinara sauce over pasta or as an appetizer.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 0.25 cup whole milk
- 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 eggs
- 4 clove garlic, minced
- 0.25 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1.5 cup marinara sauce
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk, and let sit for 2 minutes to soften.
- Add ground beef, ground pork, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
- Using your hands, gently mix all ingredients until just combined; do not overmix or the meatballs will become tough.
- Shape mixture into 24 meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place on a plate.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Working in batches to avoid crowding, carefully place meatballs in the hot skillet.
- Cook meatballs for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides.
- Pour marinara sauce into the skillet with the meatballs.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-12 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and sauce is heated.
- Serve hot over pasta, with crusty bread, or as an appetizer with toothpicks.
